FAQ

How does DMSO in samples affect the results obtained on the Fluidity One?

We find that up to 5% DMSO has no significant impact on the size results obtained, but the concentration is occasionally affected with a slightly reduced concentration reported in samples containing DMSO.

This was found by testing 3 proteins (one at two concentrations) with 0, 1, 2 and 5% DMSO added – with each sample being run in triplicate. Most of the samples gave a lower concentration when measured with DMSO present, compared to the control samples.

A 1 point calibration with a sample containing the same proportion of DMSO could help to correct for this change.
