Protein Biophysicist - Instrument Development

We are looking for an exceptionally talented protein biophysicist to design and develop novel measurement systems for ground-breaking life-science and medical diagnostic instruments.

The role will be based at our Concept Development Lab in Zurich comprising of a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers focused on early stage development of pipeline products.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop innovative measurement technologies for protein analysis
  • Be a leading voice for protein science in the concept development lab
  • Ensure the Company’s products deliver high accuracy and precision to end users
  • Actively contribute to the development of the Company’s long-term product pipeline
  • Interact with the entire team and outside world to achieve optimal performance of the Company’s technology platform

 

You’ve got this covered:

  • PhD in protein biophysics or related area; postdoctoral or industry experience are an advantage
  • Extensive experience in modern biophysics having performed a variety of analyses on range of proteins
  • Insights into what protein experiments are important to researchers in academic, industrial, and clinical diagnostic settings
  • Hands-on experience in developing biophysical measurement techniques
  • Ability to cover at least two of the following three areas; 1) Familiarity with modern diagnostic technologies;  2) In-depth expertise with bioanalytical chemistry including a range of protein separation technologies, in particular electrophores; 3) Experience in developing laboratory instruments
  • Demonstrate a highly analytical approach with strong numeracy and problem solving skills and fact based communication
  • Ambition to strive for technical excellence
  • Demonstrate good time management and documentation ability
  • ·Experience of working in a small multidisciplinary team
  • Willingness to travel occasionally

 

Nice to haves:

  • Skills in scientific programming (Python)
  • Hands-on experience in Microfluidics
  • Hands-on experience in anti-adhesion coatings
  • Experience with setting up an/or using florescence microscopes
