Well, six months ago I moved into a new Loft condo in Tampa, Florida. I thought I could live without a desk, but after five months I decided I needed a desk. But I didn't just want some everyday desk. I had been looking for something that would reflex my industrial style condo. Then I found it, the Iron Pipe Desk. I completely feel in love with this desk. The desk screams industrial and that is what I needed.
So after I did some searching for Kee Klamps, the pipe connectors, I decided to follow the desk design from the Iron Pipe Desk.
Now, Kee Klamps are expensive, but they will last forever. I used PVC pipe instead of iron. I wanted to use aluminum pipe, but I really had a hard time finding 1 1/2 inch pipe at my local Home Depot.
At the end, the PVC is strong enough since the longest pieces of PVC is only 44 inches. And the Kee Klamps really add a lot of stiffness to the desk. I'm not sure if I would sleep on it, but I have sit on it. And I'm not a skinny mini.
Over all the desk cost me around $220.00 plus painting time. You can make almost any desk base with Kee Klamps. They are completely amazing.
